Located within the Amazon biome, the state of Amapá contains the country’s largest biodiversity corridor, with 70% of its territory covered by protected areas. The state is recognized for its Amazon conservation efforts and hosts several conservation units in its capital, Macapá, under both federal and state jurisdiction. It was with this awareness of the Amazon biome’s importance that the Ages Research and Product Development Center was created.
With over 12 years of research, our products are developed at the Drug Research Laboratory of the Department of Biological and Health Sciences at the Federal University of Amapá, where studies are led by Dr. José Carlos Tavares.
The technical-scientific director of Ages is one of the world’s leading specialists in the Amazon biome.He has over 30 years of experience in pharmaceuticals, represents Brazilian Amazonian phytotherapy abroad, and emphasizes the importance of the Amazon biome in the discovery of new drugs. He has published over 270 scientific articles, authored 6 books on the subject, and is a member of the Royal National Academy of Pharmacy of Spain.
